Ashcraft's Lock & Door Hardware was established in 1982 by John G. Ashcraft, retired Master Sargent USAF, in a small retail mall in Vails Gate, NY and moved to its present location in Newburgh, NY in 1989.

The business started primarily in the door and door hardware service industry and quickly grew into a contract hardware distributor with the help of Architectural Hardware Consultant, Jack R. Learch.
