Sarasota Lock & Key Shop traces it’s beginning back to late 1925 when Arthur “Art” Esters bought the Sarasota Typewriter and Key Shop. The same year George, nicknamed “Pete,” was born. In 1956, Pete became associated with the business when he and his wife purchased the business from his parents.
On June 21, 2004, Robert Burbeck bought the business and has continued to operate the business as Sarasota Lock & Key Shop. The shop relocated to 1668 Main Street until 2009, when it moved to it’s current location on 1342 N Lime Avenue.
Robert Burbeck has been in the lock & key business for 56 years. He previously owned American Lock and Key Shop of Manasota in Bradenton and shops in Ft. Lauderdale and Brooksville, Florida.
