Profile
Windheim Plumbing & Heating Company opened its doors in 1911 at 420 Franklin Avenue in Nutley, NJ. The Windheim Plumbing & Heating building was erected by Fred Thomas Windheim, Sr. In the early 1900's, the Windheim family also had a peach orchard and were florists in town.
From 1911 to 1930, the Nutley area grew and Windheim Plumbing & Heating employed 40 plumbers. Shortly after came the Great Depression and the business shrunk down to the five original Windheim brothers: Fred, John, Henry, Conrad and Arti.
In 1998, Fred Jr. passed the torch to his son Fred (Tom) Windheim III. Tom continues to uphold the family business as a third generation Windheim, employing the same principles established by his grandfather almost a century ago.
The town of Nutley is also a home for the Windheim family, where family members continue their efforts in various civic organizations
